Working Wardrobe

Donating interview clothing to people looking for work across South Wales.

Because when you're dressed for success, you feel like you can take on the world.

The Working Wardrobe project donates interview clothing to people looking for work in our communities across Wales.

This project gives people the confidence and self-belief to take that all-important first step towards a new, meaningful career. It runs in partnership with Cadarn Group, Cardiff & Vale College, King's Trust, Bridgend College, RCT County Borough Council, Futureworks, Copa Training, Monmouthshire Housing Association.

Why is this needed?

  • 228,000 people are employed in sectors affected by Covid-19 in Wales.
  • 700,000 people living financially precarious lives in Wales. That's 1/4 of the population.
  • 19.5% of 16-24 year-olds in Wales are unemployed.
  • The hidden cost of clothing. The price of a suitable, quality interview attire can quickly creep up on you.

How Working Wardrobe works

Housing association tenants and people engaged with local support services can select, create and keep a 'work suitable' outfit from their local store for free. Clothing is accessible across fourteen hubs across Wales.

By supporting our Working Wardrobe initiative, you'll help us to:

  • Boost employment rates by ensuring everyone in Wales can interview or work confidently.
  • Combat clothing poverty for workers and job seekers.
  • Reduce the 360,000 tonnes of clothing dumped in UK landfills annually.
  • Making a lasting impact- no clothes go to waste. We work with textile initiatives and community projects to ensure all items donated are utilised.

How you can help

There are numerous ways you can support the Working Wardrobe:

  • Volunteering: We’re always after help, so why not encourage a team volunteering morning and lend a hand at our warehouse!
  • Fundraising: By raising funds, or by making The Working Wardrobe your organisation’s Charity of the Year, you will be supporting us in improving employment rates, removing barriers to employment, and promoting sustainability.
  • Awareness: Share Working Wardrobe on your company’s platforms to inspire others to join our cause.
