Making Moxie: The Story of Us

“Within the first few moments, I could tell Moxie was different.”

These are the words of one of the first amazing recruiters we hired at Moxie.

As a specialist social housing recruitment agency, our mission is to aid the transformation of as many lives as possible through the power of employment. We give people the ‘oomph’ they need to feel secure and connected to their work through our dedicated, trustworthy resourcing.

Having worked in the sector for ten years, we’ve developed a strong social consciousness focusing on the genuine relationships we build with people – teamwork makes the dream work, right?

Our journey to becoming the successful, ethical business we are today has been one of small and gradual developments; through ambition and excellent values (if we do say so ourselves...) Moxie continues to support more and more employees and employers each day.

Time for a Tale

The profit-fuelled ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ attitude some agencies have toward their employees means the recruitment agency has been tarnished throughout the years. People weren’t valued for their passion or personal strengths.

They’ve been viewed as running consultants down and encouraging an over-worked environment. We wanted to challenge this approach, give employees the recognition every worker wants to feel and foster a more friendly, tight-knit workplace. From monthly business breakfasts and wellbeing mornings to good ol’ jollies at the pub, we make sure people have an equal work to life balance.

That’s the Moxie way!

As an agency, we put our money where our mouth is, and who better to enquire from than one of our very own Moxie team members, Keeran:

“This is the happiest I’ve been in a job for over a decade! My time is valued, my thoughts and ideas are discussed, considered...and when I challenge an idea, it’s always met with positivity.”

Recognition in the workplace is vital to the production of quality work; employees who feel their voice is heard are 4.6 times more likely to feel empowered to perform their best work. When it comes to helping as many people as possible to achieve a more confident, supported work life, it’s imperative that our partners and collaborations are as invested in the empowerment of vulnerable groups in society as we are.

Our Projects

Moxie isn’t one for completing the bare minimum. We create initiatives designed to give people the kick-start they need to support themselves. Our co-produced Working Wardrobe initiative aims to utilise the community. People can donate interview clothes that are redistributed to job seekers whose socio-economic status may hold them back from attending interviews.

Did you know that 300,000 tonnes of clothing go to landfill each year? The sustainable nature of “Working Wardrobe” means clothes are reused, preventing them from going to landfill – how great is that?

The “Moxie Foundation” is a second initiative intended to remove any financial barriers to finding work. Each year, we’ll donate at least 5% of our profits to our registered charity arm that acts as a bursary for social housing tenants, enabling them to access the necessary means for work, e.g., laptops, courses and qualifications.

We practice what we preach and give back to our communities. We believe this is what sets us apart from other recruitment agencies.

The Making of Moxie

The social housing sector is an under-appreciated and under-funded one. This only makes us want to work harder for equal opportunities for safe, warm housing and fulfilling employment.

We’re addressing local social and economic issues and providing rewarding employment. It’s statistically proven that employees work to a higher standard when in a nourishing environment – Moxie pledges to deliver this for all employees and employers we work with.

Our incredible team, made up of Rich, Sam, Keeran, Chloe, Caryl and Lucy, are committed to putting health and happiness first – this has been the making of Moxie.
